Across the Universe Trailer

The 1960’s is a common time period explored in films, namely because of the many life-altering events that took place during that time. The upcoming musical film Across the Universe seeks to re-explore some of these events, through the eyes of Jude (Jim Sturgess), a British expatriate in the US who gets caught up during the tumultuous events of this decade, to the backdrop of The Beatles’ music.
From what I see in the trailer, the film seems like a cross between Forrest Gump, Rent, with a splash of Moulin Rouge!. It seems interesting enough, though I don’t know if the simplistic, stereotypical portrayal of the 60’s merits paying 10$ to watch it in theaters. Across the Universe is completed but still in production, so there’s no word yet of its theatrical release.
