Not everyone had to sing a Gwen or No Doubt song. Ryan clearly stated that they would choose songs from the Gwen/No Doubt catalog or from artists who had either inspired or influenced Gwen. These artists include the Police and Donna Summer and maybe the Cure for that matter.

bloggia- I didn’t catch if she did. I wouldn’t think so, considering the nature of the show. It would be pretty embarrassing if a “professional” would be caught lip synching in front of a bunch of contestants for what’s essentially an overblown karaoke contest.

Why do I find Lakisha and Melinda kind of blah? Jordin takes more risks even though I thought “Hey Baby” was rather unbearable. Not that this entirely belongs here, but I loved Lakisha, Jordin, and Stephanie’s pieces the week before even if some/all of the judges said they were sounding really old. The *style* of the songs of the that week were rather old but still enjoyable today if people could stop worshipping R&B/pop sludge.

If you can’t tell that Gwen was lip syncing on the show then you are a fool. It was VERY obvious and easy to tell.

Yeah - Gwen Stefani lip-syched her song on American Idol. I caught it right away. I was shocked and dissappionted in AI to allow it.

James- Thanks. I just reread the comments, and we did talk about whether or not Gwen lip-synched on the show. My mind must have had a brain fart At least you pointed it out a lot nicer than Laura did. I wasn’t really paying that much attention to her performance, so I didn’t catch that she was lip synching. It is disappointing, considering that it’s a singing (and not voting) competition.

On the whole Gwen Stefani lip-sync thing. Sure we dont no for certain wether she lip-synced or not, but i take a guess that she DIDNT.
my reasons:
Listen to the sounds of her voice, in between and during singing.
She Sounded Live there is a big difference!
With live television due to the channeling delay (incase of any swearing or illegal coverage needed to be deleted) the coverage can be distorted, so movement and sound can hav a slight timing difference.
Also she used her mic to speak to the crowd.
And with Akon there singing live it would of sounded wrong with one live and one lip-sync in a studio like that
So Laura people arent being fools!
