Former Guess model, Playboy Playmate, and TrimSpa spokesperson Anna Nicole Smith died today after collapsing in a hotel room in Florida, reports the Associated Press. She was 39 years old.

Smith was at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino when she fell unconscious. According to the Associated Press, Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said a private nurse called 911 after finding Smith unresponsive in her sixth-floor room at the hotel. He said Smith’s bodyguard administered CPR, but she was declared dead at a hospital. The cause of death is still undetermined, and an autopsy will be conducted tommorow.

However, online gossip site I Don’t Like You in That Way cites sources saying that Smith was rumored to have been detoxing at the time and possiby taking Methadone, and this might be why she had a private nurse. Various medical experts are speculating the Methadone may have aggravated an undiagnosed heart problem - the same heart defect which led to her son Daniel’s death five months ago at the age of 20.

Smith’s sudden death is the final chapter in the reality TV star’s tabloid fodder of a life. Smith was known for her Marilyn Monroe-like appearance, ditzy blonde personality, and see-sawing weight. And who can forget her questionable marriage to 89-year-old oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall II in 1994, not to mention the ensuing legal battle for his estate with Marshall’s son?

Smith’s life continued to fuel gossip columns in the early 21st century. In 2002 Smith starred in her own reality show named after herself on the E! Entertainment network. In 2003 she became a spokesperson for TrimSpa, which reportedly helped her lose a total of 80 pounds. In 2004, she appeared on the American Music Awards slurring her words and acting erratically, causing the tabloids to speculate on possible drug use. On September 7, 2006, Smith gave birth to her daughter, Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern. Tragically, just three days later her son Daniel died while visiting his mother and newborn sister in the hospital. Smith was then criticized in the media by capitalizing on her son’s death by selling the last photos taken of him to various gossip magazines and TV shows.

Up until her death, Smith was embroiled in a number of legal issues. One involved the paternity of her daughter Dannielynn, which was challenged by entertainment photographer Larry Birkhead, who insisted that he was the father. Smith’s attorney Howard K. Stern refuted Birkhead’s claims and announced that he was the true father of Dannielyn. Just this week Smith was involved in a class-action lawsuit against TrimSpa, which accuses the company of false and misleading marketing.
