Harold and Kumar Sequel in Production

I’ve just heard some great news. Production offices for the Harold and Kumar sequel have opened up, with the brilliant comedic team of John Cho and Kal Penn reprising their roles as uptight Harold and smartass Kumar, stoners with a mission. Neil Patrick Harris apparently also returns, most likely to find odd ways to unintentionally get Harold and Kumar in trouble once again. I suppose though, that now that he’s outed himself, Harris won’t exactly be playing himself as a chick magnet who fondles strippers’ boobs while driving around town.
I absolutely LOVED Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. Not only was it funny as hell, but I loved that it addressed common Asian stereotypes in a humorous manner. It was about time that two Asian guys had a lead role in a mainstream movie that didn’t involve any form of martial arts.
The plot for the sequel involves a badly timed bong smuggling sequence that nets the doping duo the yoke of “terrorists” as they try to make it to Amsterdam.
Admittedly, I feel a little iffy about the plot. I never really liked stories of mistaken identity. I would always feel uncomfortable about the character who is stuck in that situation. I just hope that the Harold and Kumar sequel retains all the humor and charm from the first movie, and not get sucked in to overdone, Hollywood hype (e.g., something stupid like Harold and Kumar saving someone’s life and getting special recognition from the President).
