Warner Home Video has confirmed to the DavisDVD website that all four Harry Potter DVD titles will be off shelves within the first few months of 2007, with no announced plans for their return.
The first three films, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, will go on moratorium this Friday, January 5, 2007. The fourth film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, will become unavailable two weeks after that, on January 22.
According to rumors also reported on DavisDVD, Warner Bros. is planning new high-definition special editions for the Harry Potter films in anticipation of the fith film which is due in theaters on July 13, 2007, but no specific plans have yet been revealed.
I’m all for HD-DVD versions of the Harry Potter films, but is it really necessary to discontinue the DVDs? I guess it’s just a small step in the plan to phase out DVD to usher in HD-DVD.
Well Potter fans, if you haven’t snapped up your movies yet, now’s the time! If you want to save money, click on this image to get this deluxe boxed set that contains all four films.

Holy crap, thanks for the info, I own the first 3 but haven’t picked up the fourth….and I’m NOT READY to exchange my DVDs for a new format yet. That blows.
