Jason Isaacs Talks About Potter V at NoFace for Film

Jason Isaacs Talks About Potter V

Via Sci-Fi Wire.

Jason Isaacs, who plays the silky but eeevil Death Eater Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, is excited that he has a bigger role in the upcoming fifth installment of the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix- especially since he was barely featured in the last film.

“I had virtually nothing to do in number four,” Isaacs said in an interview at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, Calif., where he was promoting his upcoming BBC America miniseries The State Within. “In fact, when there’s nothing to do like that, and they say, ‘Do you want to come in for a couple of weeks?’ you go, ‘Well, I’m busy. Oh, God. All right.’ Because the thought that somebody else might wear my wig is just too painful. But I have a little bit more to do in this.”

In OOTP, he even gets involved in a little wand-to-wand combat* with Gary Oldman, who plays Sirius Black and, according to Isaacs, “possibly my favorite actor in the universe.” Awww!

(Incidentally, Oldman got even less screen time in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, appearing as nothing more than a CGI-generated face. So cheer up, Jason! :))

Isaacs also reveals that he asked J.K. Rowling to put Lucius in her final Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows due in July (most likely to coincide with the release of OOTP). However, he jokes that it was probably to no avail.

“I’m sure she doesn’t need plot ideas from me. But I made my point. We’ll see. Like everybody else, I’m holding my breath to July to see what’s in there.”

*Strange, because I don’t recall that Lucius fights Sirius in the book. It was mostly between Sirius and Bellatrix.
