March of the Nerds

As some of you may know, George Lucas will be the Grand Marshall for the 2007 Rose Parade. He’ ll be accompanied by two floats, one based on the Ewok planet Endor, and the other based on the planet Naboo.
The best part is that there’ll be a phalanx of 200 die-hard Star Wars fans dressed as stormtroopers (and snowtroopers, sandtroopers and biker scouts as well) who will march in the parade.
Now, I’m a really huge Star Wars fan. Hell, for Christmas I bought myself and my boyfriend plastic lightsabers (mine is Obi-Wan’s; his is Darth Vader’s) to duel with, but even I find this on the extreme end of the nerd scale. I just never got into that whole cosplay thing, at conventions and stuff.
I live in Pasadena, and oh man, I can’t wait for the Rose Parade. While my boyfriend wants to just boo the hell out of ol’ George for destroying the Star Wars series with the prequels, the nerdy part of me wants to bring the lightsabers along and wave them at him. Oh, what to do, what to do…
