The Simpsons Movie Plot Uncovered

Via /Film.

Great googly moogly! After months of being in the dark, we finally know the plot for The upcoming The Simpsons Movie, revealed on XBox Live. Here is the apparent plot.

When Homer accidentally pollutes the river with toxic waste from the nuclear power plant he gets fired from his job and everyone has to evacuate Springfield, possibly forever.

First of all, I never did understand why the big hush-hush over the plot. I think many people like myself are already skeptical enough about a Simpsons movie. It’s generally accepted that this show is way past its prime, and for them to come out with a full-length feature film so late in the game is absurd. Therefore, it only makes us skeptics even more suspicious that there’s no mention of the plot anywhere (not even on the IMDB), especially since the film is slated for a July release. Why the big secret? Is the plot so awful that they’re afraid of driving audiences away so early on? Have they not quite ironed out the kinks in the plot? What gives?

Second, was this XBox Live reveal purposefully done, or was it an accident? If it was on purpose, why would 20th Century Fox decide on unveiling the plot in such a subtle manner? If it was a slip-up, then whoever wrote that plot description is surely in BIG trouble.

Third, the plot confirms my worst fears: The Simpsons Movie will be one long episode of Homer doing something stupid. God dammit. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut was so perfect and awesome. It wasn’t just one long episode- it was an actual animated film. Why can’t The Simpsons Movie be the same way?

Granted, I’ll still watch this movie out of curiosity and a small sense of loyalty, but I have a sinking feeling that I’ll regret it.
